Addiction affects every aspect of a person’s life. Recovering from addiction is a long process, one that requires time, commitment, motivation, and support. There is a need to take into account the well-being of the whole person including physical, mental, social, spiritual and environmental factors.
Dr Krishna is helping several families having someone addicted. He spends time with the person and the families to understand the causes and triggers and to help them. He counsels the person to follow the right path of treatment, including education and health consequences and information on different recovery programmes. He also helps through yoga and meditation to address anger management, grief recovery, self-esteem, coping skills, stress management, interpersonal relationships, gender issues, and relapse prevention. Unfortunately, Dr Krishna has seen a couple of couple of close people lose their lives in spite of his best efforts. He has been continuing the support a few families for the last eight years.
Unfortunately, the ACT Government’s reckless drug policies to introduce marijuana plants and legally carrying illicit drugs to consume are paving the way for future generations of human disaster. The de-addiction policies and investments are not adequate to serve the persons and their families. Dr Krishna is passionate in developing non-conventional de-addiction therapy centres through Art of Living Foundation in Australia.
